Hello everyone Harry here. I would just like to give everyone a quick recap of the last few weeks.
The District 8 semi-final at Okoboji was a well ran event by TBF. Special thanks to Joey and Karen Bray for running a great event!! Congratulations to Chad Schwan and Adam Hutmacher on advancing to the 2022 TBF National !! Job well-done gentlemen!!
At the District 8 we had our annual SDTBF meeting. It was an important meeting with some very important changes for 2022. Our entire group of officers had met our 4-year limit. A fresh new group of dedicated SDTBF members were voted in. These individuals will do a wonderful job at the task at hand and I see great things happening on the horizon. Here is a list of our new officers and board members.
President- Zach Quien
Vice President- Carl Brakke
Sec/Tres- Kathryn Brakke
Tournament Dir- Rob Bowden
Board Members
Justin Hiedenger
Mark Zacher
Donovan Pallatto
Dave Young
Youth Director
Harry Ladner Jr
Environmental Dir
Jefferson Lehman
I believe they will all do a fantastic job!!
Good Luck to you all in 2022 in your new positions.
There were also some very important changes to our trail format. Over the last couple years we have struggled to build our group of co-anglers. With many options reviewed the members decided that a Team Format would be the best solution. It will definitely make planning the semi-final qualifiers a lot easier. At the beginning of the season, the team designates their boater /co-angler for semi-finals. They will fish the trail as a team with a 5 fish limit but will split at the semi-final for the TBF boater / co-angler format.
Our 2022 Trail Schedule
Trail 1 & 2
4/30-5/1 Angostura Reservoir (lake Sharpe alternate if low water issues)
Trail 3 & 4
6/11-6/12 Big Stone
Trail 5 & 6
7/16-7/17 Lake Oahe (Whitlocks)
2022 Fall Open
10/1-10/2 Big Stone Fall Open
The Big Stone Fall Open on 10/2-10/3 was a well-run event. It took over 51 lbs in two days to win!!
Congrats to Chad Schwan and Dave Young on your win!!!
I would also like to congratulate Damar Dore on his 7.37lb Lunker!! He also had the biggest bag overall at a little over 28 lbs!!! Jeremy Franken weighed in a 7.21 lber good for 2nd Place Lunker!! Congrats guys those are both very impressive fish!!
I would like to thank everyone that helped with this event!! It was a great fundraiser for SDTBF as it will for many years to come. We already have a waiting list for the 2022 event!! Special Thanks to Justin, Damar, Matt Weberg, Zach, Blake, Carl, Kathryn Dave, Tyson, and my wife Emily for getting the Entry’s and Waivers printed off for me Friday. If I missed anyone please know that appreciated all your help !!!
Please know that it has been a real pleasure to serve you all as your President over the last 4 years. Know that I’m not going anywhere and I will be there to help when needed!! Everyone that was voted into office is more than qualified for the task at hand.
Again everyone thank you for making the SDTBF what it is today!! I feel with the new format in 2022 it will become even stronger!! Tight Lines!! Harry
